Why Selah?

Welcome Back!

A Lot of people have been asking me why Selah?

I’m going to take this time to explain.

Selah [ see-luh, sel-uh ]

Verb.

To pause and reflect

To praise, lift up, exalt

A few years back, I will say the college days, I was in a really really dark place in my life. I was face with a lot of situation where at the time I couldn’t see my way out. Throughout this time is when I really got to know who God was on a deeper level and develop my relationship with him. During this time, I keep hearing the word SELAH!, SELAH!, SELAH!. I was flipping through my Bible and I came across Psalms 3.

Psalms 3

3 But in the depths of my heart I truly know that you, Yahweh, have become my Shield; You take me and surround me with yourself.

Your glory covers me continually. You lift high my head.

4 I have cried out to you, Yahweh, from your holy presence.

You send me a Father’s help.

SELAH!

5 So now I’ll lie down and sleep like a baby— then I’ll awake in safety, for you surround me with your glory.

6 Even though ten thousand dark powers prowl around me, I won’t be afraid.

7 Rise up and help me, Yahweh! Come and save me, God! For you will slap them in the face, breaking the power of their words to harm me.

8 For the Lord alone is my Savior. What a feast of favor and bliss he gives his people!

SELAH!

These verses describe how David cried out for God and he answered him. The SELAH between the verses meant to stop and thing about what the writer said. It means to really think and mediate on what just took place, During this time I believe God was telling me to PAUSE and THINK about all the times, He has helped me in the past. He wanted me to really grasp how faithful he really is. I tell this story to encourage you, no matter how dark it may seem, go to him because he is the Light. I started making signs because during that hard time, I started to hang scriptures around my room. I would walk in my room and no matter how bad I was felling it cause me to stop and reflect on who God is and what his Word says. When you see my work, no matter what is going on in your life. Stop for a minute , and think about all the time God has helped you in the past. He is faithful. HE loves you! HE wont let you down. YOU CAN TRUST HIM.

IF you are reading this today and you are thinking “I want to know this man named Jesus” or “I want to experience what she is talking about,” repeat this after me:

Dear God,

I am a sinner. I need a Savior. I need Jesus. I believe In my heart that God raise Jesus from the dead. I confess with my mouth that you are Savior. Come into my heart and be the Lord of me life. Thank you for making me your child. in Jesus Name, Amen.

Its that simple. Congratulations!

Please email me and let me know if you said this prayer so I can give you more encouragement.

God loves you and I do too!

-Selah
